Can you imagine depriving your child of toys, babbling, baby talk and constant praises? The latest trend in parenting is exactly a way of parenting which requires treating children as adults.

New technique in educating children, "Resources for Infant Educarers" (RIE) is growing in popularity, and its followers are some of the celebrities.  This method was established in 1978 by Martha Gerber, who was watching the relationships between parents and children and advised that adults should allow their children to solve their own problems without interference.

This parenting method comprise: no bouncy seats or sippy cups, no high chairs, no baby talk, no toys, no rattles, no pacifiers, no rocking babies to sleep, no baby carriers or baby swaddles and no walkers.

This parental trend that aims to increase the independence and ability of future adults already has many supporters in the world of celebrity including Jamie Lee Curtis, Tobey Maguire and Penelope Cruz. It is believed that the superficial things such as toys and sport are only distracting children who actually need relaxation and natural stimulation to be fully developed. Moreover, the method requires that if a child is crying you should not console him/her, but let him cry as much as he wants.

This method of education assumes that babies and children know more than we think which is why they should be treated with respect. 39-year-old actress Penelope Cruz who has two children, is a supporter of this technique. "The children understand everything. They are incredibly smart," she said.

However, problems can arise precisely because of ordering that the parents do not interfere in the problems of their children. Although many people accepted this technique in parenting, there are many more people who find this method sternly and inappropriate.
