Bill Gates, the founder of Microsoft recently declared that by the year 2035, most of the countries, even those considered to be the poorest in the world will succeed in offering decent salaries for all its inhabitans. He estimates that the income per person will exceed the incomes from today’s China.
Through his annual letter written in the name of Bill & Melinda Gates foundation, Gates demolishes the three myths that block progress: the idea that poor countries are condamned to stay poor, that foreign help is just a waste a funds and saving lives and curing diseases only leads to overpopulation.
Bill Gates wrote that the conception that the world is going in the wrong direction, that we can’t solve extreme poverty is simply a mistake that is very harmful. From many points of view the world is a better place than ever. In two decades it will be even better.
The Gates foundation offered grants worth 28,3 billion dollars starting from 1997 for financing health related projects on a world scale and of educational projects in the United States.
Almost all the the citizens of all the countries will have medium or high incomes by the year 2035. The countries that still need to catch up from behind will learn from their better off neighbours how to perform better and will also benefit from the most recent innovations such as vaccines, better seeds for agriculture and the digital revolution.
A few states will be held back by wars and politics and by this Gates pointed at North Corea for example. Others will be disadvanged by their geographic position, like Central Africa. He anticipates that over 70% of the countries will have higher incomes than those of nowadays China and 90% over the prezent level from India. Poverty seems on its way out from our world.
