Tukmaria seeds are another superseeds, superfood that holds a lot of benefits for you!

Tukmaria seeds! You probably heard of chia seeds. Well these are not the only one.
Another superfood like chia is the tukmaria seeds. These small black seeds can be so beneficial you can only imagine.


Tukmaria seeds are used in traditional healing in India and China.
What are tukmaria seeds? These are actually the seeds of the sweet basil seeds. Basil plants are native to India and tukmaria is also known there as sabja seeds. It is also known as basil seeds.

 

 


They are ready for consumption after soaking in water for 30 minutes. Tukmaria seeds can be a good ingredient of many things like smoothies, juices, oatmeal, yogurt…

Tukmaria or Chia seeds?

 

 

They are both similar when looking at them. Both in gelatinous forms. Nutritional facts of both are basically the same. But there are a few differences.


Tukmaria seeds are completely black. That’s not the case with chia seeds. These can vary in color from black over brown and gray to white.

Tukmaria seeds swell up faster in water than chia seeds and tend to be larger after water soaking.
Another thing – tukmaria seeds have to be soaked in water for 30 minutes before consumption. Chia seeds could be simply sprinkled on food. No need for soaking.

Tukmaria seeds have more carbohydrates than chia seeds. But chia seeds contain more fat and protein.
