Use this Amazing Natural Recipe and See for Yourself

Recently I created several different lotion bar recipes. I started with a few basic recipes and found that variations can go to infinity.

One of them is truly my favorite and that is the sunscreen bar.

It is actually a homemade bar version of sunscreen, and it is totally chemicals free and avoids any carcinogens contained in many regular sunscreens. It is also very easy to apply because it is in a bar, you can use it in a similar way like soap and children are also capable to use it for themselves. Just remember to keep it in the fridge or in the cooler if you take it outside on warm weather, because it will start to melt if the temperature hits the high 80s. For a short period of time, you can keep it at room temperature.

I can also suggest you experiment with ingredients to increase coverage based on how much Zinc Oxide you add to the mixture, as this will create thinner and smoother coverage and more waterproof. This is much better than any basic recipe. If possible, I encourage you to go out and spend an hour or two in the sun without sunscreen to improve vitamin D production and you can also try high nutrient foods and supplements to avoid sunburns when you don't use sunscreen.

Ingredients that you need:

Coconut oil - 1 cup

Mango butter, shea butter, cocoa butter - 1 cup or mix all of them equal to 1 cup

Beeswax - 1 cup, you can add two ounces if you wish to have a thicker consistency, this will leave less lotion on the skin when you put it on.

Non-nano Zinc Oxide - 2 tablespoons or more

This is optional but you can use Vitamin E oil for preservation. Try to add 1 tablespoon of vitamin E oil into this recipe.

Another optional thing is to add a few drops of vanilla or some other essential oil for scent but does not use citrus oils for this recipe.

Sunscreen Bar Instructions

Combine all ingredients but Zinc oxide and essential oils combine in a different boiler or use a glass bowl if you don't have a boiler. Put everything over a small saucepan with 1 inch of water in it.

Turn the fire on and wait until water reaches boiling point. Stir the ingredients until everything is smooth and melted.

Remove everything from fire and add essential oils and zinc oxide powder.

By using gentle moves, stir essential oils until are incorporated.

Carefully pour everything into molds or something else where you can harden your bars. You can use silicon baking cups if you don't have a better idea. This recipe should be enough to fill 12 silicon baking cups.

Wait until lotion cools completely before you take the bars out. You can make bars in different shapes for different occasions, or you can cut them into regular bars.

For longer-term storage, store them at room temperature or freezer. Keep your bars below 80 degrees to prevent melting.

Make sure to adjust coverage to your needs and be careful to avoid sunburns. Try to figure out how long you can be out in the sun with your coverage.
