Did you Know you Can have Pizza While Dieting?

What’s the catch? Well, you’ll have to skip on the sausage, salami, ground beef – basically the meat part of your pizza – and substitute it with equally tasty vegan toppings. Of course, this kind of a diet is a touch and go diet, where you get what you put into it.

So, for significant weight loss, try topping your pizza with delicious veggies like broccoli, onions, mushrooms, and maybe even some heavy hitting cheese that will give you the punch that you need to replace the meats for a while. Of course, once you reached your optimal weight, you can go back to having whatever topping you want. Getting into shape has a price!

Slash 100 Calories with Vegan Toppings

Removing approximately 100 calories from your usual pizza eating experience is a huge benefit if you switch to vegetarian toppings. But there are a host of tricks you can play around with while making your novel pizza. If you must have meat, use white meat like chicken. This might be a sacrifice since chicken is usually not a topping on the pizza.

Make the pizza as light as possible with making the crust thin and using only olive oil to bake your crust. Olive oil is good for your heart and it will cut down on the fat. If you must have cheese, go easy with it and low fat cheese like ricotta instead of mozzarella. Anchovies are optional if you like them. This will add a Mediterranean twist to your pizza. And you can use the traditional tomato sauce from a bottle or make it from scratch to add just the zest. Remember to add garlic and herbs like oregano and thyme to bring in extra flavor.

You can be generous with vegetarian toppings like mushrooms and eggplant, which will give you a flavor similar to eggplant parmesan. The combination of the mushroom, eggplant and the cheese will give you a meatier texture and flavor. You just might not miss the meat at all.

If you’re bold enough, you can also try tofu made from bean curd, which has the consistency of cheese. You also have a plethora of cheeses to choose from including cheddar and Swiss cheese. You can even include the plain milk cheese sold in supermarkets to cut calories on your delectable pizza.
