Vegetables a distinctly unique way to get all your nutrients and lose weight at the same time. Cut down on your carbs and eat vegetables at every meal.

Everyone knows the power of vegetables and its impact on dieting. You might not have known vegetables also provide vitamins, minerals and fiber. In short, veggies are great for you. Even if we hated them while we were growing up, many fitness enthusiasts now enjoy green leafy juices and steamed vegetables from a plethora of cuisines. As adults, we probably have little choice other than to eat what’s good for us.

Speed up a Diet Plan with Vegetables

There are other attributes of vegetables that offer power to dieting. Perhaps the best characteristic about vegetables is that it contains very little calories and almost no fat. If you can eat your veggies without much oil – that’s why diabetics with blood pressure steam their vegetables – you can do a good job of controlling hypertension.

Garnish Salads with Herbs

Adding garlic, lemon, pepper and in some cases ginger can offer a versatile taste without much salt. In this way, vegetables offer a unique way of preparing meals that meats just aren’t able to. This is because poultry, beef, or even fish require more seasoning to get rid of some of the raw taste that they contain.

One reason that garden salads, and lettuce in particular lends itself to delicious raw salads without any dressing at all. Although salad dressings give you the added flavor of restaurant salads like Caesar’s salad, for instance, it still has a lot of calories. Most fitness experts now have crossed off salad dressing and mayonnaise from salads because it is way too much fat or calories to gain any benefit from eating a salad in the first place.

How Many Servings Should you Eat?

You can have as much vegetables as you want, and even snack on carrots, broccoli or cole- slaw, but try to shoot for 5 servings a day. This will provide the right nutrients you will need on a daily basis from about 1/2 cup of vegetables. While it is better to eat it raw, if you can’t take the raw flavor, you can go ahead and boil or cook vegetables in soup or an entrée.

If you’ve not give vegetables a fair chance, start with a salad at lunch and dinner and you won’t stop till you make it the most important part of your meal.
