This spectacular carnival in Venice, this year starts on February 15th and lasts until March 4th. The first week is relatively quiet, and the largest number of events takes place from February 22th onwards.

La Festa Veneziana - the main opening ceremony starts on Saturday on February 15th at 6:00pm. It is continued the following day on February 16th at 10:30am when the boat parade takes place along the Canal Grande to the Cannaregio district.

It should be mentioned that from February 22nd till March 4th is held a competition for the best costume of this year's carnival. You can sign up yourself, and if you do, you will present your costume at one of the world's most famous public areas - St Mark's Square. You can sign up a www.carnevale.venezia.it.

If you find yourself in Venice on February 22nd, you can enjoy the program Festa delle Marie, when 12 girls are chosen in memory of the former Venetian doges who once a year have been choosing 12 beautiful, but modest girls and rewarded them with jewels and dresses.

Angel flightwill be held on February 23rd at noon at St Mark's Square, Donkey flightwill be held on March 2nd at noon in the Piazza Ferretti and Lion flight(flag with Venetian symbol - lion) on March 4th at 05:00pm at St. Mark’s Square.

On the last Day - March 4th, the most popular part of the carnival is held. On that day, at midnight, from the Rialto Bridge over the Grand Canal, starts a quiet water parade of gondolas and traditional watercrafts, in which people hold lighted candles, and this is also the closing act of this famous event.
