There is still a great number of those who have not heard of one of the greatest inventors ever, Nikola Tesla. But those who are familiar with this genius, know that he spent his entire life working on inventions that would bring benefits to all people on the planet. He even rejected his own benefits, believing that he can provide a better future for the people.
Tesla Motors is a company that rightly bears his name, and an indication for that would be the fact that the heads of this company share his views.
Tesla Motors CEO, Elon Musk, has a clear idea of the future of electric motoring, and his latest move shows that once again, since he said that his company will allow other automakers to use their patents without a fear of initiating patent lawsuit against them.
Musk said that his company had originally sought patents for its own technology, because they were afraid that the big manufacturers could try to steal them, and use their influence and power to take advantage over the young company of luxury electric cars from California in order to kick them off the market.
However, Musk admits that it was a wrong assessment, because large companies still do not have a strong program for electric vehicles. Also, a small number of "competing" models available on the market could not compete with Tesla's "Model S" because of their much less autonomy, and the volume of production.
"Tesla Motors was created to accelerate the advancement of sustainable transport. If we make advanced electric cars, but put a ban on the use of intellectual property in order to prevent others from using our knowledge, we act opposite of that goal," said Musk.
