Go and get enough sleep, you'll need it! It affects not just your mood when you didn't get enough sleep. It goes to the genes!

Do you get enough sleep? Really? When was the last time you’ve got a good sleep?
How much sleep do you really need? You’ve probably heard that 8 hours of work and 8 hours of free time and 8 hours of sleep. So 8 hours of sleep ha? That’s the most common.


The Sleep Foundation gives it a more detailed list:

  • Babies – 12 – 18 hrs
  • Infants (3 – 11 mos.) – 14 – 15 hrs
  • Toddlers (1 – 3 yrs) – 12 – 14 hrs
  • Preschoolers (3 – 5 yrs) – 11 – 13 hrs
  • School Age Kids (5 – 10 yrs) – 10 – 11 hrs
  • Teens (11 – 17) – 8.5 – 9.5 hrs
  • Adults (18+) – 7 – 9 hrs

It all depends of many things. For example from your previous sleeping habits, or from your diet. From your current health condition too. If you’re currently feeling sick then you surely need more sleep.


What happens when you don’t get enough sleep? First you’ll be uglier. Yes, uglier. You’ll be grumpy all the time and slow and maybe more irritable. Nervous.


Some research say that if you don’t get enough sleep it affects your genes and biological functions.
People with the gene DEC2 need about 4 hours of sleep per day.
Still the story needs much more scientific proof to be sure.


So go and get enough sleep!
