Thousands of fans of bacon were married in the United Church of Bacon so far. The Church whose goal is not to offend anyone, has 4,000 members, and the number is increasing daily.
The members of this Church may have their "bacon wedding" for free while, according to the website, you can also schedule a baptism or a funeral.
"Officiants in the United Church of Bacon can perform legal weddings for those who don’t want God in their ceremony. We’ll bring creative suggestions to make your wedding even more magical. Or if you already have a plan, we will follow your lead," reads a statement on the United Church of Bacon website.
According to the "true" believers, religion founded by atheists John Whiteside in 2010 is considered to be mocking the official religions. Whiteside says he founded a new Church to fight discrimination against atheists.
Website administrators invite people to join the fight for the separation of church and state.
"The goal of our church is to fight against discrimination of atheists, to promote the separation of church and state and to obtain equal rights for all, regardless of religious belief," reads a statement on the website.
The mission of the church:
- We oppose supernatural claims. We are skeptics and atheists. In our religion, we doubt religion.
- We fight discrimination. Atheists are not inferior and should not be hated and marginalized.
- We raise money for charity while accepting no donations for ourselves.
- We perform legal weddings, always for free. How joyful!
- We expose religious privileges as silly by claiming the same rights for Bacon.
- We praise Bacon! If you don’t like pigs, praise Vegetarian Bacon or Turkey Bacon.
