Oregano is such a powerful herb! So many health benefits in just one spice!

Oregano is so important and so used these days and nobody talks about it. It has been present in medicine and cooking for many years. It has many beneficial properties you should know more about.


Oregano has so many anti-inflammatory properties. It contains beta-caryophyllin or E-BCP. This one is a compound that deals with inflammation. It is beneficial for conditions like arteriosclerosis or osteoporosis and metabolic syndrome.

 


Oregano is one of the biggest fighters against cancer. Oregano stands there in the first lines! It contains a phytochemical called carnosol. This one has some anti-cancer properties when we talk about colon or skin or prostate cancer as well as leukemia. It exhibits anticancer activity through the process of encouraging growth arrest and cell cycle arrest in colon cancer cells.


Bacteria runs away when oregano comes around! It contains things like thymol or carvacol. These are quite important in fighting bacteria.

 


Oregano also has rosmarinic acid. This one is an antioxidant. It supports immune system health. Oregano is also among those with the highest antioxidant activity ratings. It has 42 times the antioxidant punch of apples.


It also relieves symptoms of respiratory infections. It is effective with flues and colds too.
It contains fiber, iron, manganese, calcium… Vitamin E and K.


One of the best properties it has is that you can use it in so many meals and it is so tasty. It can even be added to fruit salads. 

It could be used even as oil.
