Melo in Oklahoma, Wade in Cleveland, Paul in Houston...

After Kevin Durant chose to sign with the already-dominant Golden State Warriors, the term became a part of daily vernacular for many NBA fans. And with James and Wade again linking up, alongside Isaiah Thomas and Kevin Love, while Russell Westbrook, Paul George, and Carmelo Anthony get together for the Oklahoma City Thunder, rest assured that you’ll be hearing the term a lot this season.

Oklahoma City

The remaking of the Oklahoma City Thunder is less a series of moves than a feat of engineering. Consider the raw materials involved: Victor Oladipo, locked into a questionable four-year, $85 million deal; Enes Kanter, whose severe limitations on defense rendered him a 20-minutes-a-game player; the reasonably promising (but situationally miscast) Domantas Sabonis; and Doug McDermott, whom the Bulls jettisoned to OKC last season in a fit of exasperation. It’s from those four players (along with a second-round pick) that the Thunder landed Paul George and Carmelo Anthony, fitting the frame of a superteam around reigning MVP Russell Westbrook.

Cleveland Cavaliers

Wade, 35, a 12-time All-Star and close friend to LeBron James, is joining Cleveland's talent-laden roster for his 15th season on a one-year contract, multiple sources told cleveland.com.He'll make $2.3 million from the Cavs, the veteran's minimum, sources said, after securing an approximately $16 million buyout of his $23.8 million contract from the Chicago Bulls.Wade was in Chicago as of Tuesday afternoon. Cleveland practices twice Wednesday but it remains to be seen if Wade can clear waivers, sign, and be in Independence to work out in the afternoon practice.

Dwyane Wade Reportedly Agrees to 1-Year, $2.3M Contract with Cavaliers

Issaiah Thomas could be running the point for the Cleveland Cavaliers by the end of the year. The all-star point guard, acquired from Boston this summer in a blockbuster trade, has made progress with his hip injury, and the Cavs expect him to be playing games by January.Thomas has begun running and doing on-court activities as he rehabilitates the injury, which prematurely ended his postseason with the Celtics. Cleveland acquired him in a trade that sent all-star point guard Kyrie Irving to Boston, its biggest challenger in the Eastern Conference.Thomas doesn’t need surgery. While he gets healthy, Derrick Rose, another summer acquisition, will start at point guard.

Boston Celtics

They took different routes to joining the Celtics this summer, one via free agency and the other in a surprising blockbuster trade. Gordon Hayward, who agreed to a four-year, $128 contract on July 4, and Kyrie Irving, acquired from the Cleveland Cavaliers on Aug. 22, are fellow NBA All-Stars brought together to form a new one-two punch. So when the team gathered Monday afternoon for media day at the High Output studios on Route 138, it was no surprise which two players were front and center in the spotlight. The Celtics drastically altered the roster during the offseason, cutting ties with 11 players and returning only four from a team that reached the Eastern Conference finals.

The biggest moves that were made were signing Hayward, who played seven seasons with the Utah Jazz, and getting Irving after he requested a trade from the Cleveland Cavaliers. Training camp begins this morning in Newport, Rhode Island, and there are high hopes for the Celtics mainly because of the acquisitions of Hayward and Irving. “Everywhere I’ve gone, people have welcomed me to the city and said, ‘I’m so excited to see you guys play this year. We’re so pumped to watch the Celtics We can’t wait to watch the Celtic,’” said Hayward. “There’s a buzz about it. You can tell the enthusiasm that they have for it.”

Golden State Warriors

Probably the best team in the NBA right now, and favourite for the one more championship. In what is a welcome fact for all NBA fans, the 2017/18 NBA season is fast approaching. With tip-off less than a month away, it’s time to start predicting outcomes for the upcoming season. The Golden State Warriors enter the upcoming season in every team’s crosshairs, as they look to defend their NBA Championship. So, the big question is, how will the Warriors fare in the Pacific Division this season?

The Warriors will once again finish atop the Western Conference, for the fourth season in a row. They should have no trouble against their Pacific Division rivals, and should comfortably cruise to the top of the division.
