In today’s article, I wish to help you with a solution that can do wonders for you, even if there are some other issues that are playing a role.
What are the most common causes of serious balance issues?
This can include:
- migraines
- low blood pressure
- diabetes
- problems with vision
- problems with inner ear
- foot pain, hip, ankle, and knee problems
- some medication taking
- if your leg muscles are too tight
Often, these issues are just stacked on each other, so a person may need to solve these problems one by one over a longer period of time. The first thing you should do is to check and update your glasses, check what is in the medications you are taking and talk to your doctor, and seek treatment for your leg issues including intense pain – do whatever is possible for you to do.
If you experienced a fall, you know all too well that it is not fun and it can take a quite long time to come back and recover from that, so the first solution is to make your home fall-proof.
- Take away all tripping hazards and other throw rugs.
- Place in the bars for stability in your bathroom and wherever else you need them.
- Buy non-slip mats in your bathroom and also in the kitchen.
- Make your walkways straight by arranging your furniture.
- Recheck your home and make sure that your home is well-lit.
- Buy a flashlight and keep it near the bed during the night. It’s not necessary but it is a good idea if you sleep in total darkness.
- Put the handrails on all your stairs.
No matter what your current balance problems are, you can always do something to start right now and this can make a huge difference over some period of time. Always find enough time to stretch your legs and help your blood circulation. Make sure to increase the range of motion you have in your hips, knees, and ankles, the more you are able to spread your legs apart, the easier it will be for you to catch yourself and prevent falls. You need to have a little bit of loose in your leg muscles to be able to recover from balance disorders.
If the stretches are too painful for you, still try to do them and stop at the point where it becomes painful. If you cannot find any pain-free zone, stretch exercises are not good for you. Always listen to your body because it will tell you what are your limits and what you can and can’t do.
Body positions are very important in each exercise, so check the video below, it will give you basics on how to do stretches and how to keep your body balanced.
