Best mobile phones for 2014 were announced earlier last month at the Barcelona Mobile World Cogress.
There were lots of contenders but the GSM had some specific handsets in mind. Normally, the iPhone, Samsung, Nokia Lumia or even Blackberry and Sony might come to mind when listing the cre'me de la creme of mobiles.
The quality of this year's top mobile is no surprise but the brand certainly is: HTC One is the world's best mobile phone and was awarded the smartphone of the year award.
The GSM Association highlighted the HTC One for a fantastic build and quality UI. It was just a step ahead of the iPhone 5s, LG G2, Lumia 1020, and the Samsung Note 3. Since November 29th was the cutoff date, Samsung Galaxy S5, released during the MWC trade show failed to register. Though it's most likely the HTC would have won out anyway.
"The HTC One remained one of the most advanced smartphones throughout 2013. Its great design and excellent user interface continue to provide a differentiated user experience, standing out from the competition," said the GSM association in a statement
