During the year, a lot of cases of police brutality happens. Last March, Cassandra Fuerstain was one of the victims.

A Chicago woman is suing an Illinois police department, claiming a police officer seriously injured her after a DUI arrest last March.

The alleged incident was recorded on jail video cameras in the village of Skokie, IL.

According to the Chicago Tribune, 47-year-old Cassandra Feuerstein says some of the bones in her face were shattered after being shoved head first into a jail cell.

The video shows Feuerstein's head hit the edge of a concrete bench, and then she slumps over on the ground. The footage also shows other officers and paramedics come into the cell and clean up her face with what appears to be toilet paper.

The Chicago Tribune reports Feuerstein has filed a federal lawsuit against the Village of Skokie and the officer who allegedly shoved her.

The suit claims her injuries required facial reconstructive surgery. It also alleges the officer made false statements and the police department filed a false report on the incident.

The lawsuit seeks an unspecified amount of damages.

When I see these images and hear this news, I wonder whether we as citizens can have confidence in those who enforce the law.
